Können wir wir selbst sein im Kontext unserer Familie? Wir werden in ein bestehendes soziales Gefüge hinein geboren und in dem zu überleben müssen wir uns Anpassen. In vielen Familien herrscht ein liebevolles Umfeld in dem Kinder ihren Charakter frei entwicklen können. Aber das ist nicht immer so und auch in nach außen harmonierend wirkenden Familien ist Akzeptanz nicht immer groß geschrieben. In der Arbeit DARÜBER REDEN WIR NICHT frage ich meine Familie und mich ob sie sie selbst sein können in ihrer Familie und ob es Themen gibt über die sie nicht reden können. Ich habe dazu mich mit den Mitgliedern meiner Kernfamilie jeweils alleine zusammengesetzt und sie reflektieren lassen wie sie sich in ihrer Familie fühlen. Neben den Zitaten die aus den gesprächen entstanden sind stelle ich außerdem Portraits aus die neben den Konversationen entstanden sind.

Can we be ourselves within the context of our family? We are born into an existing social structure and must adapt in order to survive within it. Many families provide a loving environment in which children can freely develop their personalities. However, this is not always the case, and even in families that appear harmonious on the outside, acceptance is not always a priority. In the work WE DON‘T TALK ABOUT THAT, I asked my family and myself whether they can be themselves in their family and whether there are topics they cannot talk about. I sat down with each member of my inner family individually and asked them to reflect on how they feel in their family. In addition to the quotes that emerged from the conversations, I also present portraits that were created alongside the conversations.
